Running on Potatoes: The Intertidal Race
What a way to launch a new race!
The inaugural Intertidal Race took runners from Gorey to St Aubin’s, crossing Jersey’s low-tide terrain and linking six iconic landmarks along the way.
With the third-largest tidal range in the world, it’s fair to say this isn’t your standard road race. A proper Jersey adventure, with a bit of running thrown in!
We were very excited to be involved, hosting the mid-way aid station and attempting to create “the best aid station ever!” 🙌 And we weren’t messing about.
🥔 Salted Jersey Royals
🥨 Crisps & popcorn
🍌 Bananas & clementines
⚡ SaltStick electrolytes & SIS tablets
💥 SIS Beta Fuel gels
⛽ Precision Fuel chews
A good mix of salty, sweet, real food and race fuel, because sometimes you want a gel and sometimes you really, really want a potato.
A quick stop for the eventual ladies winner Sam Matthews
It was brilliant seeing runners come through, refuel, grab what they needed and head back out onto the foreshore.
A huge well done to everyone who took part, and a big thanks to the organisers for letting True Food be part of such a cool new Jersey event.
And thanks to Andy Le Gresley for the brilliant photos 📸
